Tiffany Persons"Great expectations lead to great things," says Tiffany Persons, founder of Shine on Sierra Leone. The Shine on Sierra Leone (SOSL) foundation provides education, mentoring and nutritional support to children and families of West African diamond mining schools. In 2008, among other projects, SOSL built two new classrooms for the Muddy Lotus primary school in Kono Sierra Leone.

SOSL also built the first sustainable building in the country called the Unity Building which is made from sustainable materials that have been easily accessible to local civilians in this former war zone. In July, 2009 the All For Africa Foundation committed to SOSL a Palm Trust which will yield $30,000 per year for the next 30 years. The purpose of the trust is to fund programs that take place in the Unity Building, such as adult literacy, computer, and advanced education. Tiffany Persons checked in with DotGreen as part of DotGreen’s support project for issues relating to Africa in May 2009. Persons shared her experience founding a US-based organization as well as the trusted and symbiotic relationships she maintains on the ground in Africa. One of which is a partnership with Salone Microfinance Trust. Together, they funded 300 micro-loans to enable women to start their own businesses.
